Stand Up Tall

Being proud of all you are and communicating that with passion

It aims to help students develop skills in being:

  • Physically grounded and confident
  • Emotionally articulate and authentic
  • Mentally attuned and alert
  • Aware of a sense of purpose

We draw from figures as diverse as hip hop artists and sportspeople to the instigators of great social change like Rosa Parks and Nelson Mandela.

Whatever their contribution, these figures bear a common trait. They have articulated, through their words and actions, what truly inspires them and what they truly value. They stand up tall.

The course is available in various lengths. Firstly as an inspirational 75 minute keynote for larger groups of students. Or as a longer 4 hour event for groups of up to 30 students at a time. Finally, it can be used as the springboard for a piece of longer term work with a group of students – 20 or less – who are suitable for a programme to develop young leaders within their community.

‘There is no moving up and out into the world unless you are fully acquainted with who you are. You cannot move freely, speak freely, act freely, be free unless you are comfortable with yourself’

Oprah Winfrey

Recommended for Year 10 and above (15-19 year olds).
