JULIUS CAESAR – THE GREAT FORUM DEBATE

Debate, Oratory and Citizenship – Why Bother?

This course uses Shakespeare’s most famous political play to encourage dynamic citizenship in the young.

What interests, excites or even angers our students? How can they take positive action and influence with authority and confidence on behalf of their community, school, family or selves?
This can be achieved through a range of methods including :

  • A piece of theatre tackling important issues
  • Developing the skills of Oratory and Debate
  • Documentary making on a subject

There is so much that can be done to ignite their imagination, passion and desire for active citizenship.
Contender Charlie has a run a highly successful version of this course for school leaders over several years and has now developed it into a course to inspire perhaps our most important citizens – our young people.

Julius Caesar

The course can be run as a one day workshop or as a longer intervention developing the skills in students over several weeks or even a term.

Ideally recommended for Year 10 (15 year olds) and above.
